Ricky Ponting

Ricky Ponting, born 19 December 1974, is an Australian cricketer. He is a right-handed batsman and close catching fielder. He is also an occasional bowler. In November 1992, with Ponting just 17 years and 337 days he played for the first time against South Australia before making his debut on One Day International in 1995 against South Africa. After a few months he debuted in Test Cricket against Sri Lanka. He became One Day International captain and Test captain in 2002 and 2004 respectively, and remained as a captain until 2011. As of July 2010 Ricky Ponting is Australia’s leading run-scorer in ODI and Test cricket, with more than 25,000 runs internationally. He has made 39 Test centuries. He is also the most successful Australian captain of all time with 48 victories in 77 Test matches between 204 and 2010. He also played with the Kolkata Knight Raiders in the Indian Premier League in 2008.
